On January 23,2012 ,Chinese New Year will be celebrated. Declared non working Holiday, by the Malacanang Palace. Excited? yes I am because it’s an extra time for me. Anyway, whenever Chinese New Year comes. It is common that we see dragon dance as one of Chinese tradition.Nowadays , we are privilege to witness in more socialize places like shops and park this kind of presentation . We do enjoy watching the dragon dance performed in group inside the long dragon mascot. To us, the colorful dance would only mean entertainment but to our Chinese brothers and Sisters that follows this tradition,Dragon dance is more than just a dance that gives entertainment and smile to everyone watching the show.
And so to have also a deeper knowledge about the dragon dance I went to consult mr.wikipedia for more details. And per information ,
The Dragon Dance itself originated during the Han Dynasty and was started by the Chinese who had shown great belief and respect towards the dragon. It is believed to have begun as part of the farming and harvest culture, also with origins as a method of healing and preventing sickness. As the dragon gives people a feeling of great respect, it is often called the Sacred Dragon. The emperors of ancient China considered themselves as the dragon. The Dragon is also the emblem of Imperial Authority. It symbolizes supernatural power, goodness, fertility, vigilance and dignity.
Now I know, so tomorrow if I see a group of skilled people dancing in the tune of the famous dragon I will remind myself how this dance was originated and the reason behind it is being dance in most of Chinese festive.Kung Hei Fat Choi!
